Crime Fiction
Darren E Laws
Darren E. Laws is a British crime and thriller author and the founder of Caffeine Nights Publishing, an independent press specialising in dark, character-driven fiction. His work blends gritty realism with psychological depth, most notably in the Georgina O'Neil series—including Dark Country: Songs of Love and Murder and Turtle Island—where he explores the blurred lines between justice, obsession, and personal consequence.
Darren began his writing career in the 1990s after winning a BBC Radio 4 short-story competition, and he has continued to build a reputation for tense, atmospheric storytelling. His novels, including Turtle Island and Dark Country, are marked by sharp pacing, emotional intensity, and a fascination with the human mind under pressure. Alongside his own writing, he has championed new voices in crime and horror through Caffeine Nights Publishing, helping shape one of the UK's most distinctive independent genre presses.
