About Us
About Caffeine Nights Books
Independent Publishing. Uncompromising Fiction.
Caffeine Nights Books was founded by publisher Darren Laws, with our first paperback published in 2007. Built on a single, uncompromising principle that the best fiction doesn't play it safe, we champion dark, authentic stories written with genuine conviction.
In 2027, we celebrate our 20th anniversary as a publisher of print fiction. What began as a passionate commitment to British genre fiction has grown into a distinctive catalogue of crime, horror and steampunk, and the journey is far from over.
We are proud to be independent. Proud to be British. And proud to publish bold storytelling that refuses to play it safe.
What We Publish
Our catalogue spans three of the most vital and demanding genres in contemporary fiction.
Crime Fiction
Our crime fiction is rooted in lived experience. Gritty urban noir, psychological thrillers and hard-edged gangland drama, written by authors who know the streets they write about. These are books for readers who demand authenticity, atmosphere and characters worth following into the dark.
Horror Fiction
Our horror fiction does not flinch. From supernatural dread and psychological terror to visceral creature horror and dark comedy, these are British horror stories that disturb, unsettle and stay with you long after the final page.
Steampunk Fiction
Our steampunk fiction champions rebellion and invention. Richly imagined worlds of Victorian adventure, eccentric genius and irresistible wit offer readers somewhere extraordinary to escape.
Our Authors
Our authors bring distinctive voices to British genre fiction. Our crime catalogue includes Garry Bushell's London noir, Dougie Brimson's working-class crime, Nick Oldham's Inspector Henshaw series and Roger Allan Newbury's police procedurals. In horror, Shaun Hutson's uncompromising dark fiction sits alongside Joe Pasquale's darkly comic storytelling. For steampunk readers, Paul Eccentric's Periwinkle Perspective hexalogy and Colin Edmonds' Curiosity Collection champion adventure, invention and wit.
Established names and new voices share the same commitment: courage, craft and stories that refuse to play it safe.
